This made in USA heavy duty 8" x 3" phenolic wheel caster with positive locking brake offers an economical wheel solution for high capacity and durability, making it ideal for heavy loads in industrial environments. The fork legs are constructed from high quality, heat-treated 3/8" thick AISI 1045 laser-cut steel and fully welded (inside and outside) to the notched yoke base (containing the precision machined raceway and 1/2" ball bearings), delivering superior strength and smooth swiveling. The kingpinless design eliminates kingpin failure, a leading cause of caster failure in heavier applications. Phenolic caster wheels are a long time trusted solution due to their strength and economical price point (cheaper than steel wheels and offering similar capacities). Phenolic wheels are hard (90D hardness), making them easy to roll, and they provide excellent durability when moving or supporting heavier loads (will not flat spot). However, this hardness does not provide best-in-class floor protection, debris rejection, or quiet operation vs. other high-capacity wheels. If you need the higher capacity and want greater floor protection or noise reduction, we encourage you to explore polyurethane caster wheels or nylon caster wheels. Phenolic wheels should not be used in wet applications, as the moisture can weaken the wheel once the protective shell of the phenolic wheel is compromised.
